Grade 7, Geometry, Cluster B (solve real-life and mathematical problems involving angle measure, area, surface area, and volume). The full standard asks students to know the formulas for both the area and the circumference of a circle, use them to solve problems, and give an informal derivation of how the two formulas relate.
Scope note: this generator currently practices the area half of 7.G.B.4 (A = πr² from a given radius). Circumference problems aren't part of this tool yet, so pair this page with a circumference lesson to cover the standard in full.
Builds on 6.G.A.1's area of triangles and quadrilaterals. The circle area formula carries forward directly into 8.G.C.9's volume of cylinders, cones, and spheres, all of which start from πr².
