What 6.RP.A.3.c Covers

Grade 6, Ratios & Proportional Relationships, Cluster A (use ratio and rate reasoning to solve problems). Sub-standard (c) asks students to find a percent of a quantity as a rate per 100 (e.g., 30% of a quantity means 30/100 times the quantity) and to solve problems involving finding the whole, given a part and the percent.

Scope note: this page mixes exactly the two question types named in 6.RP.A.3.c — "what is p% of n?" and "n is p% of what number?" A third variant, "what percent of n is m?", is a related but separate skill and isn't included here — see the general Percent Problems generator for all three mixed together.

Where It Fits

Sits alongside 6.RP.A.3.a (equivalent-ratio tables) and 6.RP.A.3.b (unit rates) as the third sub-skill of the Grade 6 ratio-reasoning cluster. It's the direct foundation for Grade 7's multistep percent problems (tax, tip, markup, percent change).
